Jesse Sparks

"My passion is helping people to discover strengths within themselves to better navigate the complexities of modern life.  Enriching relationships, feeling more connected to the world around them and succeeding through difficult, and sometimes painful transitions are my general aims in working with clients. Jesse has a unique approach that is compassionate yet direct and he is able to quickly build rapport with adolescents and young adults alike.  He brings a wealth of experience to the counseling field.  He has worked in both inpatient and outpatient environments with a diverse clientele on a wide range of issues.  He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees with honors from Rollins College.   He completed his Masters clinical practicum at Pasadena Villa, in Orlando where he continues to work as a staff therapist with clients experiencing chronic mental illness and dual diagnosis.  He completed his Masters Clinical Internship at the Greenhouse Community Counseling Center where the majority of his caseload focused on family therapy.  He is registered in the State of Florida as a Mental Health Counselor Intern (#IMH 6317), is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NBCC) and is a current member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW) and International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC).  During his graduate studies, he was inducted into the Psi Chi National Honors Society in Psychology.  Most recently, Jesse accepted an appointment as an adjunct professor of Psychology at Valencia Community College. 

Jesse utilizes an eclectic therapeutic approach blending elements of cognitive behavioral, client-centered, solution-focus, existential and reality therapies. He is currently developing a unique counseling approaching entitled Abstract-Directive therapy.  His areas of specialty include adolescent transition, couples counseling, addiction, chronic depression, self-esteem, anxiety and fears, sexual identity concerns, grief and loss, divorce, spirituality, career coaching, relationship issues, men's issues and others. 

He has been a resident of the Central Florida area for more the 30 years and enjoys motorcycling, flying, music, theater and his yellow lab "Lucky."
